Nemo not managing desktop; icons missing and right-click disabled

I have Nemo as my file manager. My problem just happened yesterday. My quick launch icons and other files on my desktop are missing from there, but are in my Desktop folder. Also, I cannot use right-click on my desktop for anything. I am running 64 Bit Linux Mint 21.1 Vera. It is my understanding that Nemo is supposed to run the desktop.
